The Problem

Business analysts, product managers, and other capable non-developers can now generate databases, scripts, and dashboards with AI, but they often cannot judge whether the resulting architecture and code are reliable. Asking AI for finished solutions can also conceal important learning moments, leaving teams with prototypes they do not understand or feel safe maintaining.

Potential Solution

Deliver a facilitated implementation sprint in which a team converts one existing requirements document into a tested internal tool. The operator teaches structured prompting, requires participants to attempt and explain key decisions, reviews generated code, adds tests and documentation, and hands over a maintenance playbook tied to the finished project.

Why Now?

AI coding agents have lowered the barrier to building operational software faster than organizations have developed verification and ownership practices. Teams need a practical bridge between experimenting with generated code and responsibly operating what they build.

am I using AI correctly as a learner?
r/learnprogrammingSep 2, 2026

unlike a textbook, the AI gives you tailor made snippets. Unlike a google search or documentation you outsource the understanding, by removing the friction you're removing the learning moments. Trying to understand finished solutions isn't nearly as effective as figuring them out yourself. I've been trying to apply AI to streamline learning, trying to remove friction just like you, but without a bit of a back and forth and effort it just doesn't stick, at this moment here's my use: I don't use it unless I need to. First i try at least 3 different approaches to progress myself, if i'm stuck and need a guidance i tell it the 3 attempts and that i need a hint on how to find a solution, you never eat the solution outright, but rather be shown a path toward it. Another usecase is asking about documentation, i often get lost there 😭 Also idk if I understood the post correctly, but it sounds like you're outsourcing your thinking and system design to AI? which is the skill you should be improving rather than just writing code

Well, I think, you know, as I was, as I was thinking through this, Leo, I was, I was imagining the lessons that anyone using AI to generate code could take from this. It seems to me there's a lot here that is useful in terms of the way you phrase what you want and, you know, how explicit you need to be to an AI. You know, as we know, when I, when I shared some of my early chat prompts, you know, I gave it a lot of language. I prompted, you know, with as much clarity as I could, because the more I gave it to hold on to, the better job it seemed to be able to do.

And so I've been doing recently too is using AI to help understand or explain to me parts of the code base that I maybe haven't looked at in a long time. Right. So, you know, you had given this idea of like have it build you a curriculum to say, hey, these are the things I want to learn. How should I go about learning this? You know, give me the steps, give me the curriculum, and then let's pause at certain intervals to make sure I'm understanding. Give me a quiz, you know, help me under make sure I get what's going on here and to correct me if I'm wrong. So using the AI for ~ as a mentor almost, right? As like an educator for you, specific to your code base, right?

Yeah. No, that's amazing. I actually recently also tried a coding AI agent. And I had it built like a live dashboard for me, like a stock dashboard based on the stock tickers that I wanted to monitor. Literally did everything, like read me file, project plan, even like a working live dashboard that literally gets updated every second. Yeah. I was so, I didn't even like write a single piece of code. Yeah. It's crazy. But if you're a beginner, like, like it's great to have access to these tools, but learn these things. For sure. So then you can actually validate what all these tools and AI tools are basically telling you to do. Yeah. Cool. Awesome.
