Review of Rover – Pet Sitters Unfair to sitters Rover’s new terms are increasingly one-sided against sitters. Sitters pay for their own background checks, while pet owners are not comparably screened. If something happens to a sitter, Rover limits its own responsibility and restricts how disputes can be pursued. At the same time, Rover takes 20% of sitter earnings and charges pet owners an additional service fee. For that cut, meaningful sitter support is extremely limited. Rover also heavily penalizes sitters for taking bookings off-platform, despite shifting most of the actual risk onto the sitter. Sitters do the work, enter strangers’ homes, handle animals, travel, and deal with emergencies. Rover collects fees from both sides while functioning largely as a scheduling and payment platform. The balance between what Rover takes and what it provides has become hard to justify.

Review of Rover – Pet Sitters 5 years later -Updated Been using this app for years now. Only had one glitch and that was recently. Not really a fan of the new update and having all my past booked and unbooked in the same area. So they lose a star on that. Other then that it’s easy to use Update: from 4stars to 2. So I’ve been with Rover for many years now and their new system is a slap in the face. Instead of starting the lowest tier at 80% earnings, they start you with 60/70% earnings. So of course in order to get more money as a sitter you have to up the price, which in turn will turn off potential new clients. The tier system defiantly needs to change before they expand it to every sitter or they will lose people to wag or other pet are services.
