The Problem

Founder-led service businesses often expand faster than their staff can assume leadership roles. Owners either promote unprepared employees, make expensive outside hires without a reliable selection process, or remain personally responsible for every location. The resulting management gap slows expansion and can leave the founder trapped in daily operations.

Potential Solution

Provide a fixed-scope management bench program that identifies roles required for the next location, assesses internal candidates, recruits missing managers, and runs practical leadership simulations before anyone is placed. The operator delivers scorecards, structured interviews, paid working trials, training plans, and a succession map tied to the expansion schedule. The first version is a consulting-led service, with assessment templates and benchmarking data becoming productized over time.

Why Now?

Lean companies can operate with fewer employees, but expansion still requires capable people who can implement processes and support customers. As founders pursue growth without adding excessive overhead, selecting and preparing a small number of high-quality managers becomes more consequential.

And then you could then start, once you have people you could trust that are reliable, that have proven themselves by being at a location A, the headquarters. So that's important. So, but profitability and staff and bench strength of team is the most important thing to be able to scale or else you're just basically killing yourself. Awesome. I like that. Let's talk about another topic that I think you did really

They're always learning or they don't grow with the business and eventually they kind of get replaced because they don't grow in their skill level, right? So to me, the truth is kind of in the middle. You're going to have some people that will grow with the company because they want to be there. They want to grow. They want to learn. And then others who won't, which as you have more cash, maybe you bring in somebody that, let's say, I want to scale my business to $500 million a year. Well, do you have the CEO that's actually done that before or is he trying to figure out how to scale you to $50 million a year? It's going to be hard for him or her to scale you to $500 if they've never even scaled you to $50.

A couple of those people jump off. Some new people jump on. Then you keep going down the road. More people take off the train. Some people come on. And as you keep growing, growing, growing, you're not necessarily going to end this business with the people that you started with, right? I think a lot of people don't realize that. So as you start becoming more successful, as you get more cash flow, as you have more reserves, you're able to go out and hire people who have more talent in the area that you need. In the beginning, you kind of got to throw bodies in there because maybe you don't have the cash to pay the best people, right? So as you grow, either your employees that started with you in the beginning, they're going to grow with you, meaning they're acquiring skills.
