I would not suggest the AMEX platinum. It offers very little in the way of points accumulation except the 5X on flight purchases and on hotel purchases through their portal. You’re better off to go with something that gives you general points for every day spend such as a Bilt card, capital one venture x (especially if you use capital ones offers portal you can rack up some really good points accumulation through everyday purchases), AMEX gold is good because of the 4X on dining and groceries. I get quite a few points through that.

There are many ways you could choose to go with travel points (Air miles) and only one card covers every single travel option of any travel at anytime, fixed points travel rewards and points for frequent flyer programs like Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France KLM Flying Blue etc and that is the American Express Cobalt Card. It’s one of the best earners and the most flexible when it comes to rewards options. If you don’t want to be bothered with frequent flyer programs as there are a lot of nuances to them not to mention you have to earn a lot of points if you are looking to redeem for multiple people then I would recommend an any travel at anytime card, of which the Cobalt is one the of the best but there are others that are very close to it to.
