Employees can intentionally create public AI conversation links without recognizing that those pages may later become searchable or circulate beyond their intended recipients. These conversations can contain internal documents, personal information, legal discussions, financial records, or API? keys. Security teams need a repeatable way to discover exposures, prioritize incidents, and contain downstream risks across multiple AI providers.
Offer a fixed-scope exposure audit followed by an optional managed monitoring service. The operator searches public indexes and known sharing paths, validates matches against customer-owned domains and identifiers, classifies exposed information, and produces a remediation queue. Workplace AI adoption is creating a new public-sharing surface that conventional security inventories may not cover. The repeated coverage also shows that ambiguous sharing controls can produce urgent work for security teams even when no technical breach occurred.

Recently shared conversations from Claude started showing up in Google search results. A glitch caused links meant to be visible only to certain people were instead picked up by search engines, making them searchable by anyone. Some of what was exposed included personal details, financial data, and internal business records, information no one intended to make public. Google removed the results within about a day of Anthropic fixing the glitch, but by then, thousands of those conversations had already been copied and saved elsewhere online. This isn't the first time when something like this has happened. A similar issue impacted shared chat GPT conversations about a year earlier, making thousands of them searchable online.
And just on that, I think the reason why that was published online is because there is on Claude, there was a share button. Was it Claude or was it? I think it was Claude, but I'd come in. So one of these West, you know, it was either Claude or ChatGPT, I think the user had clicked the share button so you can share the chat with somebody. And I think they clicked it and maybe shared it somewhere or when they clicked it, perhaps maybe that was one of the things that then said, oh, it's now a public URL so anyone can view it and it was stored in their servers. Or maybe they shared it with someone and it ended up somewhere else. So, again, to Josh's point, be careful.
Malwarebytes reported that Claude Chastain in Google search. Yeah, look, this is a super misleading headline, OK? People had to physically. Go into a chat, they had to share it, they had to make a public link available, and then someone had to actually share that on the website that Google was indexing. Your searches, your artifacts, they are not Google -able by default. I mean, I've written about this in the past. There's an article about this, too. It's a completely misleading headline that your chats are showing up there. Again, you had to go and you had to physically share it. You had to say, this is available to anyone on the planet with this link.
